The back driver's door was so covered in bird shit that it was grossing me out every time I opened it. And the salt was making Mazda rust horror stories creep into my mind a lot. So, Lil' Red is clean again. I'll spend the next few days (until it rains on Sunday) avoiding puddles and random leftover snow/salt blobs falling off of other cars.
Winter sucks. I miss detailing the car myself, going for long drives through the countryside, and just sitting outside. Cannot wait for springtime!

As a fellow Mazda3 owner (a '10 s hatch, smiley face and all), I've been running it through a car wash every week or so. I love the car, but Michigan salt scares me much more now than it did with my Honda. To be fair, that Honda was already a little beat to shit....

Good call, when I was in the midwest I had a 2005 Mazda 3 that started to rust by the rear fender/bumper. Then again, the PO had never washed it, so you're a better owner already.

I'm gonna spray mine down today or tomorrow just to get the salt off. I live in the south. I shouldn't have to deal with salt. After last year's FUBAR they've been salting like crazy. I saw them salt yesterday. People were following too close. Getting salt water spray right on/in their cars.

Mine has no rust. But it has been frequently washed (to say the least) for the last six years. And the only owner before me was in southern Georgia.

my hose is buried under massive amounts of snow. Its snowing again so cleaning it this point isn;t really wirht the effort. When all this white shits gone i'm going to make a hookup to my hose with a PVC pipe with holes drilled in the top. I'll set up a little bit of a ramp so i can get up and over the pipe and use it to spray the undercarrage

That's clean as hell! I love this design and body style of the Mazda 3. I was looking at getting a Speed3 before I decided on a Miata. Reminds me that I will definitely be washing my Miata ASAP.
